The Canadian Staff Band was privileged to support the Ambassadors of Holiness Session for their ordination and commissioning as Salvation Army officers on Saturday, June 25, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre The event drew Salvationists and friends from throughout the Greater Toronto Area as well as the wider Canada and Bermuda Territory and beyond.
In addition to the commissioning, the CSB played for the Sunday morning public worship service and the farwewell and retirement service for outgoing territorial leaders Commissioners William and Marilyn Francis, conducted by former territorial leaders Commissioners Norman and Marian Howe, now retired. It was a momentous weekend, and the band's main contributions included Robert Redhead's
Christ-Hymn on Saturday night, as well as two new pieces Sunday afternoon, Peter Graham's
Seize the Day and a new setting of
They Shall Come From the East by Kevin Larsson.
