Arriving at Amsterdam International Airport it was off on a short flight to England for our evening concert at Stowmarket. Arriving at Heathrow Airport we were met by our host for this leg of the tour, Gerald Turner. It was then off on a two-and-a-half-hour bus trip to our destination.
Following a sound check at the United Reformed Church, a lovely sanctuary built on the site of the original building which was bombed during the Second World War, we enjoyed a lovely Enlglish tea (supper) at the Army corps before presenting our program to a packed-out house. It was especially delightful to see Colonels Robert and Gwenyth Redhead in the audience and to have Robert introduce the euphonium solo Salvus.

We were all weary after a long day, and unfortunately it was only to get longer. Driving to our hotel on the outskirts of London we encountered some unexpected traffic delays and didn’t get there until almost 1:00 a.m. Tomorrow we must be up by 5:30 to be on our way by 6:15. But what a day it’s going to be. Royal Albert Hall, here we come …
